In Robert’s bay, on the Atlantic coast of Martinique is the Ilet of Eau. It’s a private island at only 10 minutes from the shore, located in a part of the coast which is protected by the beautifully colored coral reef.
It is an area of fonds blancs, shallow, crystalline water and white sands. Day trips with kayaks and boats to other numerous smaller coral islands is popular. One of the more popular is Ilet Chancel, the island of the iguanas.
The Island counts few houses and a villa and offers tranquility, sea side living, snorkeling and relaxation; this is what to expert from this corner of paradise!

Private pier

At your disposition is a small motor boat to reach the mainland and to use for short boat trips.

Distances: 20 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes by boat from the mainland. Shopping center and the center of the village of Robert is 4km from the pier.

Upon your arrival you will find a welcome dinner and a breakfast packet for the next day.

Linen and towels are included although cleaning is not included.
 

AROUND THE ILET

Robert’s Bay is protected by the coral reef and counts a total of 10 little islands: Petit Vincent, Petite Martinique, a Eau, Rat, Chancel, petit Piton, Boisseau, Madame, de la Grotte e Loup Garou. The area is famous for its shallow water (Fonds Blanc) with crystalline water and calm seas. Robert’s Islands and their Fond Blanc are popular destinations for day trips because of the beauty of the area and the color of the sea. Motor boats, catamarans and kayaks are available for these trips.

The Island of Eau is a private Island of about 3Hectars. It’s name comes from the fresh water basin, that still exists, that sourced the local fisherman with water. You can walk around the island in approximately half an hour, a beautiful walk immersed in nature.  It doesn’t have a proper beach but the water is magnificent and you can swim in crystalline, shallow waters and snorkel safely from piers or from small beaches.  The Ilet Rat, that gets its name from its shape, is easily reached by foot just by crossing the lick of sea that divides the two islands.

From the Island you can reach Ilet Chancel in 10 minutes by boat that has been left for you to use.
Ilet Chancel is the largest of the islands (approx 2km wide) It has a beautiful shady beach and stunning fond blancs, natural swimming pools with turquoise colored waters. But above all it is popular tourist destination because it is the only place in Martinique where Endemic Iguanas of the Small Antilles still live.  The Iguana Delicatissima can be easily spotted. On the island you can also visit the ruins of an antique Habitation which was dedicated to the cultivation of the sugar cane and a  restored typical four à chaux (an oven that was used to make lime from sea shells).
